DESCRIPTION:Dear Earhart Ocean Guardians\, \nOur school is participating in the first coastal cleanup of the year! Fresh water from our streams drain into the bay’s saltwater creating an ecosystem that hosts diverse plant and animal life. This kind of habitat is called an estuary\, and it lies right in front of our school’s doorstep! As we are profoundly connected to other aquatic\, aviary and terrestrial species besides ourselves\, we aim to maintain the health of our estuaries. Plastic litter makes its way to the waterways\, and weathers to become smaller and smaller particles that fish and birds consume. We can pick up as many bottle caps\, ketchup packets\, straws\, and other interesting articles left behind or blown away from trash bins\, to lessen the effects of our consumer life on wildlife. \nWe have robohands and gloves to use. If you can bring a bucket from home\, that would make the job easier. Also\, wear clothes for the morning weather\, and some like to wear rain boots as the ground is muddy and mucky in places. We also require that people wear masks and keep a safe distance from other families. \nWe will meet at 8:30AM Saturday\, May 14 in front of the Amelia statue. SUMMARY:Coastal Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Dear Earhart Ocean Guardians\, \nOur school is participating in the first coastal cleanup of the year! Fresh water from our streams drain into the bay’s saltwater creating an ecosystem that hosts diverse plant and animal life. This kind of habitat is called an estuary\, and it lies right in front of our school’s doorstep! As we are profoundly connected to other aquatic\, aviary and terrestrial species besides ourselves\, we aim to maintain the health of our estuaries. Plastic litter makes its way to the waterways\, and weathers to become smaller and smaller particles that fish and birds consume. We can pick up as many bottle caps\, ketchup packets\, straws\, and other interesting articles left behind or blown away from trash bins\, to lessen the effects of our consumer life on wildlife. \nWe have robohands and gloves to use. If you can bring a bucket from home\, that would make the job easier. Also\, wear clothes for the morning weather\, and some like to wear rain boots as the ground is muddy and mucky in places. We also require that people wear masks and keep a safe distance from other families. \nWe will meet at 8:30AM Saturday\, March 5 in front of the Amelia statue.
