Blue Ribbon School Poetry and Essay Contest

Remote & Flex Learning Families: The Blue Ribbon writing contest is underway!

Help us celebrate by writing a poem or essay about this honor and why Amelia Earhart School deserves the recognition of being a 2020 Blue Ribbon School. Winners will have their work published in a book. There will also be special prizes and recognition for all who participate!

All entries must be submitted in digital form (12 pt font or higher), double spaced. No illustrations, please. Send entries to: BlueRibbonEarhart@gmail.com by December 18, 2020. 

The details:

Each student may enter one essay and one poem.

Essays should be three to five paragraphs.  Poetry should not exceed one page.

Manuscripts must be written in prose (story format). Please follow the following length requirements: Kindergarten-200 words or less.  (May be dictated and transcribed.) – Grade-One- Three: 500 words or less. Grade Four – Five: 750 words or less.

Creative Entries are judged on continuity, creativity/originality, clearly defined and developed story elements, originality, organization and technical mechanics.

Student’s name should NOT be on the front of the manuscript. All entries should be accompanied by a separate page that includes, first and last name, grade, teacher.

Title must be on the front page.
