What is the PTA Nominating Committee?

The name might sound a little intimidating, but the Nominating Committee’s job is to help identify people who would be a good fit for next year’s PTA Executive Board. They are currently seeking 5-7 members to join and help make connections to new volunteers.

Who: The current Parliamentarian is the committee chair and the Principal serves as an advisor. One other current board member is allowed to join, and the rest should be general PTA members. The current President is not allowed to participate in the committee in any capacity.

What: They work together to develop the candidate slate for the upcoming school year. Some positions may have volunteers interested and some positions may need help to fill. PTA Executive Board positions include President, Executive Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, VP of Membership, Historian, Financial Secretary, and Auditor. More than one person can run for a position.

When: Elections generally take place in April/May. Thirty days prior to the election, the Nom Com presents its proposed candidate slate to the membership for approval.

Where: All meetings (1-3 meetings, tbd) are currently scheduled to take place via Zoom.

How: After understanding the skills required for each position, the Nom Com then identifies possible candidates and solicits their buy-in. The candidate slate is presented for approval at the March general PTA meeting.
