January 7: Tentative In-Person Reopen Date
At its October 27 public meeting, the Board of Education heard presentations on the district’s proposal for re-opening schools, disproportionality in AUSD, the Remote Learning Program, and homework. The Board voted to re-open elementary schools on January 7 for TK-2nd flexible program students and to approve a trio of board policies about the district’s parcel taxes. The board also voted to hear presentations on two board policies on the agenda – one that addressed equity and one that addressed board member conduct and censure – at the next Board meeting on November 10th.
The Board of Education also heard from many impassioned parents about the Remote Learning Program and the issues of inequality and technical problems that are ongoing. The Board will most likely continue to discuss solutions for this program at its next meeting as well.
