You can listen on your radio at home in Alameda on 96.1 FM, or via a Livestream found here: KJTZ Radio The station is promoting a Listener Challenge the week leading up to winter break. The Virtual Book Fair was so much fun!! Thank you to all who made a purchase and especially to those families who participated in the contests we had going. There were some great book fair prizes handed out and we had so much fun!! While the Book Fair is technically over, you can still shop and our school will get 2% back throughout the year on every purchase in Scholastic Dollars. That money is used to purchase books and supplies for classrooms – teachers still need books to teach to and classrooms will need more books than ever once everyone returns

If the Earhart Teachers/Staff are on your list, there will be a special drop-off bin for cards, notes or small gifts at school, Monday, Dec. 14 – Wednesday, Dec. 16, between 9a-3p each day. Please be sure your items are clearly labeled. Remote & Flex Learning Families: The Blue Ribbon writing contest is underway! Help us celebrate by writing a poem or essay about this honor and why Amelia Earhart School deserves the recognition of being a 2020 Blue Ribbon School. AUSD School Board Meeting Information At its October 27 public meeting, the Board of Education heard presentations on the district’s proposal for re-opening schools, disproportionality in AUSD, the Remote Learning Program, and homework. The Board voted to re-open elementary schools on January 7 for TK-2nd flexible program students and to approve a trio of board policies about the district’s parcel taxes. The board also voted to hear presentations on two board policies on the agenda

We’ve collected 65 passports and 13 winners were announced at Morning Ceremony this past Monday, October 26. More winners will be announced at Morning Ceremony this coming Monday, November 2. Great news! Earhart collected more than 650 pairs of shoes from our bins! All three schools together collected over 1,000 pairs. Quite a “feat”! Thanks very much to all who participated. Here’s a few photos of the donation station at Road Runner Sports in Berkeley, who will send all the shoes to Project Sole for refurbishing, distribution, or recycling.

App Dev League is a student-led national non-profit organization based in the Bay Area dedicated to bringing application development opportunities to students. You may have heard that Flexible Program students may be returning to in-person school soon, as the School Board and AUSD continue to seek guidance from government health officials. At AUSD’s School Board Meeting that took place this week on Tuesday evening, there was a presentation by Superintendent Pasquale Scuderi. In his presentation, Superintendent Scuderi said the next step was for our school district to complete and share a plan with the Board and community for preliminary review on 10/20/20, with a public review of this plan taking place at the next School Board Meeting on 10/27/20. The Earhart Go Green Committee is pleased to announce our upcoming shoe drive, in collaboration with Green Teams from Otis and Edison Elementary Schools, during the week of 10/19 – 10/23. We are currently seeking “host homes” for shoe collection bins. Bins can be as simple as a large cardboard box with a sign on it. If you are willing to host a donation collection bin outside your home or local business for that week, please contact Andie Cultrera, andiegrrl@gmail.com .
