Earhart’s inaugural Read-a-Thon begins on Monday, March 13!   Our school will be reading and raising money for the PTA’s support of our Innovative Program, teacher & classroom supplies, music & art enrichment, field trips, and community-building events. Our fundraising goal is $80,000, and our reading goal is 400,000 minutes! Join us on Wednesday, March 8th for the kick-off of our Earhart Garden Club! This free, volunteer-led club is for TK-5th graders and their families. We ask that a caregiver accompany TK-2nd graders, but this is not required. Meetups will be on Wednesdays after school from 1:50-2:50 pm and 1 Saturday a month (likely on Ocean Clean-up days). We will provide snacks and gardening gloves/tools. Please plan to dress your child accordingly, as this is an outdoor activity. If you are not attending, please plan to pick up your child at 2:50 pm. This year’s theme will be: BUILDING OUR FUTURE!   We are looking for Earhart STUDENT’S ORIGINAL ideas and artwork from all grades! The name might sound a little intimidating, but the Nominating Committee’s job is to help identify people who would be a good fit for next year’s PTA Executive Board. They are currently seeking 5-7 members to join and help make connections to new volunteers. Who: The current Parliamentarian is the committee chair and the Principal serves as an advisor.   This Spring we are looking for families to help us get our Earhart gardens back in shape! The gardens will not only beautify our school, but will provide areas for hands-on science lessons, become butterfly-friendly habitats, and provide plenty of native flowers and plants for our pollinators. On Saturday, February 11, PTA invites you to a Garden Work Party at school, behind the science classrooms. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Girls on the Run is a nonprofit that uses the power of running to build healthy, confident girls. Now more than ever, girls need a safe place to share feelings, build friendships, and get active. Physical activity is woven into each practice, to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build habits that lead to a lifetime of health. Math Kangaroo is an international math competition for grades 1-12, and there is still time to participate in the Earhart after-school practice sessions! While the in-person test centers are closed for registration, the Virtual Centers are still accepting registration until March 12. The only difference between a virtual center and an in-person one is that students will take the March 16th exam online. Registration fee is $35, and virtual competitors are welcome to join the in-person practices happening every Thursday. To learn more and to register click here. At Tuesday evening’s School Board Meeting (1/10), several cost-saving proposals for the district were discussed. The district is receiving less money due to lower enrollment and loss of federal one-time funds, as well as a reprioritization of funding programs to meet its mission and vision. Among the proposals was the recommendation to phase out funding for “Innovative Programs” in three schools. The current proposal brought to the January 10 Board meeting is to gradually reduce the funding for Earhart’s (innovative) science program. Wednesday, 11/30 Lincoln Middle School Information Event: The first of two Lincoln Middle School Information Nights is on the Lincoln MIddle School campus (In-person) on Wednesday, November 30 from 6:30 to 8:00pm. The second Information Night is virtual via ZOOM on December 9 from 6:30 to 8:00pm Thursday, December 1 Bay Farm Information Event: Bay Farm is holding its Middle School Information Night on Thursday, December 1 from 6:30 to 8:00pm. Bay Farm’s second Information Night is on January 12 from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Both events are in-person.

Our Instructional Leadership Team selected the week of December 5 as Spirit Week. Our student council selected the following spirit themes for each day: Monday, 12/5 – Rollout of Bed Day (Pajama Day) Tuesday 12-6– Mismatched Day (mix funky patterns, colors, different shoes etc.) Wednesday, 12/7 – Sports Day Thursday, 12/8 – Upcycle Day (Students express their creativity and concern for the Earth. For example, they can create a hat, bracelet, shirt, etc. made from homemade materials that would be recycled. Friday, 12/9– Rainbow Day TK and Kindergarten students wear Red shirts, hats, etc. 1st grade students wear Orange shirts, hats, etc. 2nd grade students wear Yellow shirts, hats, etc. 3rd
